I am a big golfer, but actually attended Thunder Bay for the Elk viewing and dinner in the summer. So that's all I'll be reviewing. Overall I think it was a really nice experience. The owner and his family we're really nice and very knowledgeable. They take you on an hour long trip through a fenced in area to look at Elk. The problem was, we didn't see any Elk. On the way back, they did have a couple of Elk in a different area and we were able to check them out and good some good pics. Shortly after, we were at the small cabin they is to serve food at. Dinner was good, but I'm not a big fan of onions and the salad had too many onions for me. Wine is served with dinner, however, I'm not a wine drinker and you couldn't substitute beer, you had to buy it. Otherwise the pork dinner and desert was great. The golf course didn't look like anything special, but I'll probably check it out sometime in the future.

The hotel rooms are pretty basic... older but very clean. But the hospitality, staff, elk ride and staff along with the plentiful food certainly make up for the lack of immenities in your suite. Was expecting a real fireplace...

The staff is delightful, food very nice, the elk event is fabulous! The rooms are a little dated but very clean! Overall, a delightful weekend. Was hoping for a real fireplace & hot tub in the suite. 3.5 stars.

Spent the weekend for a murder mystery weekend. Always a good time, elk viewing is great, good food and people

My wife and I came for the Elk viewing sleigh ride and gourmet dinner, and in spite of picking the coldest day of the year, we had a great time! Apparently the snow base was not quite enough for the sleigh, so we did a carriage ride instead. Our host was very attentive and provided a wealth of information about the history of the resort and the elk preserve, and the dinner was spectacular. Lodging was adequate - nothing special, but roomy and comfortable. This is a nice gem between Gaylord and Alpena.
